Cleveland Marathon 2019 –Nuns on the Run Again!
Some of you may remember our participation in the Pittsburgh Marathon in 2010 and 2011. At that time, we worked with seminarians from the Diocese of Pittsburgh in their “Run to Be a Nun” fundraiser—which benefited, among others, our very own Sr. Agnes Thérèse.
In 2019, we are going to run the 26.2 in Cleveland, the hometown of Sr. Anna Rose and Sr. Mary Michelina—and much flatter than Pittsburgh! Will you join us?
Inspired by the Pittsburgh seminarians of yesteryear (most of them are priests now!), Sr. Anna Rose and Sr. Agnes Thérèse are going to run the marathon on May 19th as a fundraiser for our community, and we are seeking fellow runners to join our team and sponsors to make the event a successful fundraiser. Our sister-runners will offer up their training miles for the Church and for your intentions.
To run with us (or in solidarity with us in the half marathon, 10k, 8k, 5k, or 1-mile events), just go to our 2019 Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon’s webpage join our team, Sole Sisters, and select which event you would like to run. As you train, encourage your family and friends to participate by making a donation to the community – they can do that through Crowdrise’s website.
Follow our training, send in prayer requests, and let us know how your running is going through our Facebook page.
In a world where so many put care of their bodies above care of their immortal souls and substitute exercise for religion, we hope to give witness to a faith that honors and reveres our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit while acknowledging that they are given to us so we can use them to honor God and serve others. Please join us in spreading the word!
