Father of Mercy Chapel-Come to the bosom of the Father

Let us respond generously to the Father of Mercy who invites us to share with Christ in His great work of salvation by calling us to join our Sorrowful Mother at the foot of the Cross.

crucifixion scene in Father of Mercy Chapel (wood relief)Father of Mercy Chapel was dedicated on August 1st, 2010. It was built to honor our Heavenly Father who loved us so much that He sent His only Son to become one with us as man.  Jesus is the perfect reflection of the Father and of the Father’s Merciful Love for us.  Jesus, the Incarnate Son of God, loved the Father and His beloved sons and daughters so much that He laid down His life for the redemption of mankind.  When Christ’s Heart was pierced on the Cross, it poured forth blood and water, which has become the life stream of our salvation.  From Christ’s pierced side was born the Church and her Sacraments.  When we receive the Sacraments, we receive the life source of our faith.  Through the Sacraments, the Holy Spirit dwells within us and, like Mary at the foot of the Cross, we become vessels of grace and mercy for others.

Father of Mercy Chapel is where our sisters spend three to five hours each day in prayer, joining Mother Mary at the foot of the Cross in communion with Christ’s offering of intercession, reparation and atonement, and in thanksgiving, praise, and adoration of God. Most importantly, it is where our sisters receive Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament.   The Chapel is the most significant place in the lives of our sisters, and, by God’s grace, is where we receive the source of grace that enables us to be continually transformed by our Beloved Crucified to become vessels of mercy and grace for others.A Sister receiving Communion

We welcome visitors and pilgrims to come to Father of Mercy Chapel, and we pray that those who enter her sacred doors will come to experience the merciful love of the Father through Christ’s love outpoured for them. Through God’s loving presence, Father of Mercy Chapel is a place of healing, transformation and strengthening in Christ.  May those who pray in this sacred place become vessel of God’s Mercy for the building-up of Christ’s Church on earth!  May Christ’s words to Francis from the San Damiano Cross be fulfilled in each of us:  “Francis, go rebuild my Church…”

All my nothingness is drowned in the sea of Your mercy. With the confidence of a child, I throw myself into Your arms, O Father of Mercy, to make up for the unbelief of so many souls who are afraid to trust in You.
